Tell us a little bit about yourself.  Where were born, raised, and what got you into acting?

Chris: I was born in raised in Torrance California.  There were two places that I spent most of my life – at the beach and on film sets.  The movie business for me is “the family business.” My grandfather ran the backlot of Fox Studios before retiring, my grandmother did wardrobe, and my four uncles all do special effects on big-budget action films.  My father has been prop master for over 30 years, working on such films as  'The Great Outdoors' and my favorite – 'Spaceballs'.  He started working in television when I was a kid and that’s where I got the taste for acting.  For three summers my father worked on a fantastic children’s series called “The New Lassie.”  First I started just spending the day watching the action but soon I became friends with the cast and ultimately received a recurring role on the series.  It was the best learning experience that I ever received.   From there I got an agent and began the audition process.

What have been your most exciting recent projects?  Where might fans have seen you before?

Chris: Some of the most recent projects that I have done have been So NoTORIous which was Tori Spellings series on VH1 where I played a “Tom Cruise-like” character.  I also did a guest spot on Brothers and Sisters and In Justice for ABC.  Recently I filmed a horror movie called “Sick Girl” which will be grossing out audiences very soon.

How did you hear about the production of “Midnight is the Darkest Hour?  What interests you about the project?

Chris: I came across the casting on the one and only cragistist.com.  I really thought I wouldn’t make it to the casting because I was shooting the horror film that day but luckily they let me read the day before.  I think I had all of five minutes to look over the sides before I jumped into the audition.

I was interested in doing the project because I was a huge comic book fan growing up and have always wanted to be in one.  I also think that script is great fun.

You are going to be playing Jimmy Smith, the brave and loyal best friend of action heroine Paula Peril. What interests you most about playing the sidekick to a beautiful co-star?

Chris: The role of Jimmy really interested me because he is the side-kick and not the star.  I love the idea that the lead hero is a woman…and a sexy one at that.  It’s interesting because the roles are a bit reversed…the woman ends up saving the guy not vice versa.  I love that Jimmy is smart and eager to do great work.  He’s not afraid to join in the investigation.   The character of Jimmy is very close to my own self - he’s ambitious, fun and goofy.

Are you much of an action hero yourself?

Chris: I would love to think of myself as an action hero.  But I guess I would consider myself more of an action-sports junkie.  I love to do extreme activities from skydiving to white-water rafting.  I grew up surfing and water skiing so I am always a fan of doing a bit more dangerous, extreme sports.  But I’m also a fan of sitting on my couch watching really lame reality-TV shows.

In the comics, Jimmy has an unrequited crush on Paula. Does he get any closer to romance in this movie?

Chris: Some romantic sparks do ignite and there is a definite chemistry between Paula and Jimmy throughout the movie.  However, you’re going to have to see film to find out what really happens between these two.
