Your career seems very varied – you’ve been an actor, producer, director…tell us what you enjoy the most?

Val: I enjoy acting the most. I have been acting since I was a child. I always wanted to play a character of some sort. I never really knew I had what it took to be a director until I tried it, really. I guess the same went for acting.

What have been your most exciting recent projects?

Val: I have worked on many big films but feel very at home with the Adventures of Paula Peril. I think “Midnight is the Darkest Hour” will be my most exciting project yet. I am very happy to be a part of the project.

How did you hear about the production of “Midnight is the Darkest Hour?  What interested you about the production?

Val: I saw a breakdown of the script and contacted Andy immediately to find out about the project. I was instantly signed up for an audition on the Paramount stage. The fact that it is a live action comic book movie struck my interest. I have a list of films I must do in my career and a live action comic book is one!

You’re going to be playing Anthony Carleoni, Paula’s arch-enemy. What interested you about playing the underworld mobster?

Val: Well to be honest, I knew nothing about the character. Andy had me read for two different characters the day of the audition and I got the call days later saying I got the part of Carleoni. Now that I have researched the character. I must say, I love playing the bad guy!

Carleoni is a pretty ruthless character – how much of that is acting, how much is really you?

Val: I have a lot of experience playing bad, so this wont be too hard of a stretch for me. Playing bad is what I do, but I am such the opposite in person…so I am told.
